Playing peek-a-boo with Papa How could a guy not be happy when he's wearing blue fleece pants and is surrounded by Shellie, Ronaldo, and a super soft blanket?

Oh Shellie you're so swellie (you too Ronaldo)
Here's our little man cuddling with his little friend Shellie Sheep (thanks Ellen!). Well, I don't know if you can officially call it cuddling yet; basically Brian or I will put her on Guthrie's belly and he'll squeeze her or chew his heart out.
There's those flexed feet again!
Shellie, you taste mighty fine!
Shellie, you're cool, but I still love Gordon best.
We had a delightful surprise in the mail last week: a super sweet hand-knitted cap from my potter friend Amy. It's been a little chilly (but maybe not chilly enough to warrant a hat but it's too cute) so Guthrie decided to wear his hat today. Here he is hangin' with Ronaldo (don't ask how these names come about?) the friendly rat from Terry. It's really cute and floppy.

On the move
I know, I know. I'm probably in big trouble for not posting in a week. Sorry to all grandparents and others who need a daily Guthrie fix! He says hi. These days Mr. Man has been working hard on trying to move around- he's testing his neck muscles by leaning forward all the time in his bouncy chair and car seat and he seems to be on the cusp of rolling over- maybe in the next couple of weeks.
Guthrie also likes to exercise his vocal chords. He makes all sorts of funny sounds and likes to do so LOUDLY! Crazy boy.
Here he is getting started to roll over, he'll rock a little, and then get lazy and chew on his hand. Yum!

Just plain cute
Oh yes it's true...
We have a thumb sucker! Yesterday, Guthrie officially discovered his thumb. He's been toying around and testing various finger combinations, and finally settled on the single, left-hand thumb, with right hand positioned behind his head. Not only does he suck away, but Guthrie drools uncontrollably! Check out the puddles on his shirt!
Sometimes fingers work when the thumb gets too pruney!

Happy bench press
Guthrie's become part of my exercise regemine lately: I can usually lift him about 7 times until the drool piles up heavily on his mouth and a large string starts to drop. I remember playing this little game with my younger sisters Lauren and Leslie when they were little: bouncing on my legs like a horse. I think Gus may be still a bit too little yet, but we do it anyway.

Guthrie's first game of tag
A little game of tag has been going around in the (pottery) blog world and Guthrie is now it! My friend Becky "tagged" him, so now he has to share 6 random things about himself. Here goes, spoken by Guthrie, translated by his mama:
1. My favorite 2 times of each day are: 1- smiling at dad when he comes home from work & 2- snuggling with mama in her bed in the morning. But my most favorite time (every other day or so) is getting a bath.
2. Even though my human best friend is Colin, right now my bestest friend is my stuffed animal Gordon that hangs above me when I get my diaper changed. I could stare, coo, smile and squirm at him for hours. LITERALLY.
3. I don't like it when my mama calls my tummy "Buddha Belly."
4. I starting to be skeptical that Parker and Posey are my true brother and sister that mom and dad keep saying they are. They don't look much like me- they are furry and have tails. Maybe they have a different father (does the milkman have a tail)?
5. I really miss my mawmaw, pawpaw, granny, grandpa, grandma Martha, aunts, great uncle, and cousin who all live in Ohio.
6. Uncle Woo is my hero.

What a boy
Today was one of those special days that Guthrie was just a total sweetie pie all day. We mostly hung around the house and played and talked and ate.
Later on, Bri, Guthrie and I went to dinner with Aunt Tam and Uncle Woo to hear about his birding trip out west. We ate outside downtown and Guthrie seemed to enjoy all the lights, sounds and smells. He sat under a potted tree and spent much of the time looking up, studying it. Then he charmed his aunt and uncle on the way home with smiles and coos. What a guy!

Melt my heart why don't cha!
