Oh jeez, the shame....

Growing up it used to drive me nuts to see an entire family at an amusement park dressed all in the same thing (sorry to those of you who do that!). I can appreciate the function of this, but it doesn't help when every other family is dressed in jean shorts and a red t-shirt too.

Anyway, the other day my friend Julie was over for a visit and we were sitting outside on our porch when I realized that it was relatively warm out, so I took off my sweater and the one Guthrie was wearing. All of a sudden Julie stopped mid-sentence, looked at Guthrie propped on my lap, and started laughing. I didn't understand until I looked down and realized that we were dressed exactly the same: green shirt and brown pants (to my credit, my shirt was absolutely not a onesie). Poor little guy has no hope of coolness.

Eight months (and a day, of course)

Happy eight months little buddy! You've grown into such a sweet little bug- squirming and rolling around, and not quite crawling yet. You're super cute when you try to crawl, but get your left leg caught under your butt and then flop forward. It's frustrating for you, but you'll get it soon enough! We love how smiley you are in the morning when you wake up happy and how you reach up and touch our faces so gently. Your all time favorite thing to do right now is to drink from a big kid cup (usually a handmade ceramic one, much to the delight of mama!). We love you big guy!
Get that foot out!
Ha!
Are you guys watching me?
Beep beep!

Kid heaven

Upon arriving home after running some errands this afternoon, I plopped Guthrie down in front of his toy basket to run into another room quickly. When I got back, the situation had changed and looked like this: Guthrie's never had full reign over his toys (for no particular reason, just had never thought about it) and was in his glory. In a matter of 2 minutes, or less, he had dumped over the basket and started sorting through all the goodies available to him.
Much to my surprise, he was playing with this sturdy little vase I had made as a demo for one of my clay classes. Guthrie likes to grab it, pull it to his mouth and shout in it. It answers with quite a nice little echo.

For Vanessa

I know how much you (Vanessa) like squishy naked baby pictures (but not in a creepy way of course!). So, here you go: Mr. Man playin' in his birthday suit. We're trying to give him a chance almost every day, because he seems to like being free. Unfortunately, today got a little tricky when Guthrie peed all over his blanket in the living room. He tried to give us a warning fart, but we just laughed at him and then could only watch the puddle form beneath him. Oops!

Mr. Brave

On Friday Guthrie got his flu booster shot. While the nurse wiped his little leg with an alcohol swab, I braced myself for the inevitable crying (both Guthrie AND me). I heard a little, "Eh" and then the nurse said, "All done!" I couldn't believe it. Guthrie was smiling at me as I snapped his pants back on- what a big brave boy. Yesterday (and today too) was beautiful here in Charlotte, so we decided to take a little hike. We squished Guthrie into a back carrier for the first time and he really seemed to like it. He kept letting out little squeaky laughs the whole way and especially liked when I bounced him up and down. Guthrie also loves to eat the wind, so there was plenty of that happening. Dad, you're so fun!
