Hooray for a year and a half, buddy!

This is a little late for a proper year and a half b-day posting, but hey, that's ok! We like to celebrate this guy every day!

G had his 18 month check up last week. He's a very healthy guy:
-weight: 50th percentile
-height: 50th percentile
-cuteness: 97th percentile
-sweetness: 99th percentile
We were a little surprised to hear that he's average for his age in size since so many people comment on how big he is for a little guy. Bri and I determined that everyone is fooled into thinking this because of his big hair and giant cheeks!
Guthrie loves playing with things in groupings. He's very much an organizer. His recent "toy" of choice is a pile of old bibs that he gets out of a drawer in the baby's room every day. He loves to put them in his big truck, push them around the house, take them out and count them and then put them back and push again. Repeat this about 10 times for about 2 hours or so.

I can't remember if this has been mentioned before, but G has an incredibly keen eye for railroad crossings, signs, tracks and cars. Whenever we cross over any tracks or any are in plain sight, he shouts, "OOOOOOOOOO-ooooooo-WOOOOOOOOO!" over and over again. It's so darn cute! We find that we can't help ourselves from shouting whenever we cross over tracks too- even if the little guy's not in the car. Dorky, yes, but true.
Ummmmm....dont' know if that's the proper way to ride the horse?!!

G's vocabulary is expanding every day. It's been so much fun hearing him try new sounds and words, often repeating things we say. Conveniently, one of his newer, distinctly pronounced words has been "baby." Maybe the little guy is catching on to what's happening soon!

Playing in dad's hat.

Guthrie loves blowing kisses- whenever someone is leaving, when we go through the checkout at the store, going to bed at night, etc. The kiss is in generous, full effect. On the other hand, when we ask G for an actual kiss, this little guy offers his forehead! Too funny. He's slowly catching on sometimes offering a drooly, open-mouth lip kiss.

Dreaming of a white Christmas

We couldn't believe our amazingly good fortune when we woke up to this beautiful scene this morning!
Santa answered our wish of a white Christmas...

Ok. Just kidding. It's more like this:
and this:
and this, here in NC:
But, we're cozily enjoying ourselves inside, watching G play with his new and old toys. He's super cute, so we don't care much about what's happening outside!

Christmas Morn

Merry Christmas from Charlotte family and dear friends!
These two are actually from last night before our church's Christmas Eve service. G was all gussied up for the occasion. (Check out Bri's festive red elfin shoes!)

G tryin' out his new ride. Go cowboy!

Sweet boy said, "this is so much fun guys." Well, he didn't actually say it, but we think he would've if he could...

Predictions

The due date of our sweet little belly babe is rapidly approaching: January 9th is just over 2.5 weeks away! We can't believe it's come so quickly and are super excited for his/her arrival. Which brings us to ask: does anyone have any predictions out there? Will it be a boy or girl? On what day will this little bug come out to meet us?

In full disclosure and to be totally fair, I have had a feeling that it will be a girl. BUT, just after Guthrie was born I had a very strong feeling that I would be a mother of boys, so those pretty much cancel each other out!
Our good friend Carley gave us a great little gift that had the additional benefit of predicting what our baby would be when he/she grew up. We were so delighted to discover the following result:
37+ week baby bump. Chance for one final prediction: can you trust me? ;)

The gang of rascals this Christmas

Here's a picture of the kiddos (from 2008) from our group of friends that gather almost every Sunday. It's so hard to believe that they were once that little!
Today we had our annual Christmas party and celebrated with a potluck brunch (yum- determined to be the best kind of potluck!) and white elephant exchange. We missed having Jess and Gavin with us, so the kiddo picture was incomplete, but super cute none the less! With the addition of cutie Luca (AKA the "Winnie Cooper" of the neighborhood), the boy/girl ratio is getting closer to even....
Guthrie puttin' the moves on little Luca...

That little rascal just can't help himself...

Guthrie has been doing the typical little guy activity of getting into the kitchen cabinets and drawers for some time, but this week he upped the ante by busting into dresser drawers. To his delight, G discovered a just-filled diaper drawer! Let's just say that day was filled with emptying, dive-bombing the diapers on the floor and then refilling. Super fun for this little guy!

Woohoo!
Please mom? I wanna empty the drawer- again!
Heh heh heh.

Little sneak...

Today Guthrie discovered a new use for his giant dump truck. Didn't you know it can also double as a little ride-on toy? Mama discovered that, while fun/funny, bending over and pushing a little guy throughout the house is probably not the best preggy activity- G was laughing way too hard to stop!
